The patient's eyecare is at the very centre of our interest and we seek to provide a bespoke service to address all visual needs of our customers. Eye examinations include slit lamp microscopy, ophthalmoscopy and refraction. Additional services include digital retinal photography, visual field assesssment, keratometry, colour vision assessment, provision of low visual aids to the sight-impaired, dry eye assessment, contact lens assessment and dispensing.
In addition to routine eye examinations, we are now able to provide "Local Enhanced Services" under the revised terms of our contract with the York Primary Care Trust. These services include red and sore eye diagnosis and treatment, differential diagnoses for flashes and floaters, as well as the provision of Low Visual Aids for the sight-impaired.
Last year, we acquired Ocular Coherence Tomography technology. OCT is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses infra-red light rather than sound waves to examine the different layers that make up the back of your eye. The OCT machine captures both a fundus photograph and a cross-sectional scan of the back of the eye at the same time. Regular OCT screening can detect common conditions including age-related macular degeneration, diabetes, glaucoma, macular holes and vitreous detachments.
For an additional charge, you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing that your eyes are in healthy condition. If you would like to read more about OCT technology, please visit this link to download the leaflet.
